What does an IV do?

IV stands for intravenous. An IV is a therapy where medical grade vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and/or medications are added to a sterile solution of fluids (ie saline), and delivered directly into the vein (aka intravenously). This therapy is also called an infusion, where the contents of the IV bag are infused directly into the vein to provide complete and immediate absorption. Intravenous delivery of medications, nutrients and vitamins provides faster and more comprehensive absorption as compared to oral or food based delivery routes. This allows for maximal effect of these substances for a variety of health outcomes.
